Subtraction with decimals is basically the same as addition except you takeaway from one and add the same amount to the other side.

Last week we started to learn how to do addition with decimals. I learnt that we have to add to one side and takeaway from the other, we have to do this because it rounds up one side making it easier to add together.

Koru art
Last week and this week we have been focusing on our koru art for our matariki fair,the big pink one is my mum,the big dark blue one is my dad,the green one with lines is my older brother,the one beneath that is my younger brother& the one beneath that is my sisters boyfriend.The yellow stars is my oldest sister,the one on top is my other older sister,and the orange korus are me.

Maths week 7
This week for maths we had to complete our independent tasks.
WALT: Rounding &compensating when solving equations.

This week for Te Reo we had to create our own book using our kupu hou for the week. The sentence structure we followed was, He____ tenei. The translates to, this is a _______. We also had to record ourselves pronouncing the words right and find images that matched our sentence.

Narrative Writing Week 6
Turbulence
There once was a doctor whose name is Joe,doctor Joe and he lived happily until one day a strange package arrived. He decides that he never gets a day off of work and that he wants 7 whole days personally for him..He thought and thought and finally he came to a decision. He said “I will go on a vacation far,far away from my home¨.
He rang up an old friend and he pleaded if he could possibly fly him to an island. After hours of debating and arguing he finally pulled enough strings to be able to fly away.
The doctor packed his bag and maybe he packed for a little bit longer than a week but you never know what could happen.
The doctor awoke early in the morning to get to his flight. When he arrived at a small airport in the middle of nowhere he called out for his friend,PAUL!PAUL! WHERE ARE YOU!! Paul slowly walked out from behind his plane. He said, ``Do you mind trying to get some rest¨. He was wearing his old nightgown that had holes in it and he had an old floppy hat on top of his cold bald head. Paul was an old man who was quite large,arrogant. He was very short and very slow but he was quick in the mind. When it came to planes Paul would know the answer,problem or solution.
Paul and the doctor sorted out the plans for their trip,because now Paul decided if he were to fly far away he might as well take a holiday .
As the doctor entered the plane it started to rock around and the wind blew hard,the doctor felt unbalanced and he nearly tumbled back he quickly latched onto the hard metal bars and pulled himself back onto his feet. He glanced behind him where Paul was standing telling him to hurry up.
When the both of them were ´safely´ in the old rickety plane Paul started a countdown for his lift off. ¨5..4..3..2..1¨!! They had lifted off,the plane wobbled and creaked but for now it was stable.
They flew for what seemed like forever, the doctor stared out of the window and glanced down. Beneath him he saw the bluest water ever. Paul looked over and gasped,he had gone the wrong direction he had ended up in the witches hat which is a horrible place many planes have horrible turbulence here and many planes crash.
As he tried to stay calm he failed and started to panic, his hands started shaking and his vision went all fuzzy. He couldn't control the plane,then just to make matters even worse lightning started to strike everywhere,but the ground started to creep closer.¨WE'RE GOING DOWN¨Paul cried out. The plane had been hit and they were falling out of the sky,the ground crept closer but down below them was the ocean, not even solid ground.
The water turned murky and white lines ran throughout the water.Joe looked down and screamed out his lungs ¨AHHHHHHHHH¨. Suddenly the plane crashed and all their surroundings turned into a swampy brown water. Paul was petrified for his beloved plane and he couldn't believe he didn't try to even land it on hard ground.
Joe looked for a way out as the water slowly seeped through the cracks in the plane. He finally managed to get the emergency exit open. By now the plane had fully sunk but luckily the witch's hat lagoon was only 8 meters deep which meant with the right amount of breath Joe and Paul would be able to survive.
Now the water was up to Joe's waist and since Paul was a little dwarf it was up to his chin. Just as Joe went to open the exit fully he told Paul to take a deep breath. As both of them did so they started to kick and kick. They reached the surface and gasped for air,they continued to swim to land as the island wasn't too far.
As Joe and Paul crawled up onto the sand the storm had long gone as they were under water long enough for the storm to pass.
Joe laid there in the sun for a while until he gained enough strength to stand up and walk over to a rock. He saw lines engraved in the rock,he started to count them up; his total was 42 days which Joe calculated was 6 weeks.
When the both of them had agreed that if Joe goes to find food Paul will try to make shelter and a fire. Joe started by wandering through the bush on his left and looked up,he saw coconuts,lots of coconuts and to his right was a banana tree. The first thing he tried to do was climb up the coconut tree but as he was climbing he saw a gigantic pitch black spider on one of the coconuts. He got the
biggest fright of his life so he just let go of the tree and hoped that it wouldn't be too painful(he fractured his wrist). Joe then tried to climb the banana tree,he succeeded and went back to find Paul.
When Joe got back he saw that Paul had already put together a shelter and started a fire. Paul looked out to sea and asked Joe “what's that out there” “where” Joe answered “right there, It looks like a ship” Joe agreed that it did. They both started screaming out their lungs and waving their hands, the ship turned itself to face them and it started to move slowly. Joe and Paul sighed in happiness.
Eventually the ship had arrived but then realized where they had ended up. The ship blew their horn then told the pair of them that they had to hurry up or else the ship would sink. Not only were they in the witches hat but the island had extremely shallow waters therefore if they didn't hurry up and climb on board the ship would sink and it would have been all of Joe and Paul's fault.
As the both of them gathered their courage and all of their strength they walked through the swampy,murky water the captain of the ship called out to them “hurry up we're gonna be stranded if you don't start running through that mud like water”. They started to gain speed and at last they reached the ship,the ship's crew threw down a frayed rope ladder and told both of them to climb up. As they did so the captain started to move the ship around because they were already sinking but the ship was above water enough for them to get out.
Soon after they were out to sea and the captain and the crew were heading in the direction of Joe and Pauls home so they were going to drop them off and Joe would never EVER take a plane with Paul again.
